Belgian heptathlon standout Nafi Thiam made the perfect start to her 2016 outdoor campaign on both Saturday and Sunday May 21-22.

The 2015 European indoor silver medalist in the pentathlon showed off her good early season form at the LBFA Championships on Saturday with a solid 15m18 effort in the shot put, just 6cm short off her PB.

On Sunday Nafi was the center of attention at the Urban Memorial Van Damme, a city-center high jump competition in her hometown Namur where she soared over 1m94 to win the competition. Her performance also qualifies her for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later this summer.
