Yesterday – Wednesday July 15 – multi-event standout Nafi Thiam got to compete on home soil at the yearly Meeting International in Liège.
The 2014 European heptathlon bronze medalist produced a series of very consistent jumps including a personal best mark of 6.43 metres.
The 20-year-old began the competition with a leap of 6.26 which she quickly surpassed with a jump of 6.38 on her second attempt – a then personal best – before pulling out another personal best jump. It was with her fifth jump that Nafi soared to the furthest distance of her life to take 2nd place with 6.43 metres.
She now heads to Heusden on Saturday July 18 where she will compete in the high jump.
