At the 27th World University Games in the Russian town of Kazan Belgian decathlete Thomas Van der Plaetsen got off to a splendid start with three PB performances. In his first decathlon since 2011 the 22-year-old posted a 11.12 PB clocking (834) in the 100m and won the long jump with a 7m80 jump (1010), adding 1cm to his previous lifetime best. He then threw 13m48 (697) in the shot put.

Later today, we will see Thomas in the high jump and 400m.
